Gardens tell a story
Comune di Riccione
Saturday 9 November (2 p.m.), meeting at the Meridiana at the Castello degli Agolanti and registration of participants. The walk will continue along the Broom Park Trail, skirting "Villa Alta" and Aquafan, passing through the ancient rural estates of the Ceccarini family, with guides Samuela Pandolfini and Loris Bagli. During the tour, information will be provided on the historical importance of the Agolanti Castle, known in medieval times as the "White Tomb", which later became accommodation for Queen Christina of Sweden during her journey from Rome. There will also be a presentation of the most recent archaeological excavations, directed by the University of Bologna, Department of History Culture Civilisation, curated by Andrea Tirincanti.
During the walk, there will be an 'impossible' interview with the Queen of Sweden, interpreted by Francesca Airaudo. We will then proceed along Viale Cagliari, where there will be a stop for a historical-archaeological story by Andrea Tirincanti. Next, we will stop at the garden of the Ceccarini Kindergarten for a tribute to Maria Boorman Ceccarini, with a recital performed by Francesca Airaudo and Giorgia Penzo.
The walk will continue along the high side of Viale Ceccarini, with a stop outside the Cicchetti Arboretum. Arrival is scheduled at the Villa Lodi Fè Park, where a short historical-naturalistic walk will be held, with an in-depth look at the history of the garden by Loris Bagli and Vittoria Gravina. The event will end with a final concert by the Banda 21 Rulli, in collaboration with the Cuore 21 Association, and a closing toast. The return to the Castello degli Agolanti will be guaranteed by a free train provided by the municipal administration.
From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Admission is free with prior booking through the Tourist Information and Reception Service (Iat) at the Palazzo del Turismo in Riccione tel. 0541 426050 iat@comune.riccione.rn.it, bookings open from 31 October.
